Our Graduating Seniors

A list of our seniors leaving the team this year:

Chelsea Ashworth, 3 years, going to Auburn

Ricardo Saenz, 4 years, going to Georgia Tech

Vignesh Ramesh, 3 years, going to UGA

Riana Ilango, 4 years, going to UGA

David Lee, 4 years, going to UGA

We wish them the best of luck in all their future endeavors.

Note on Michigan Tournament results

We will try our best to get out the results incoming from Michigan this weekend, but the distance will force delays in the relaying of this information. I believe there are 6 preliminary rounds, but I am not certain. They likely will break to the Double-Octofinals (“Doubles”) meaning a win there would get a bid to the TOC (as the bid is at the Octofinal level).

Good Luck and Ant Pride!!

Note on Twitter/Scoreboard results for Wake Forest

The JV and Varsity division at Wake Forest are on seperate campuses (JV is on the actual college campus and Varsity is at a local highschool). Due to this, there will be a delay in getting JV results onto the scoreboard. Further, we may not be able to report specifics (Aff or Neg and specific round result) until after the tournament; but we will be able to report on overall win-loss records throughout the day.

So just keep that in mind when following the scoreboard and the Twitter feed. [Twitter.com/Raiderdebate]

Also, a reminder for parents: The letters of the team name (i.e. Alpharetta LC) represent the first letter of both teammate’s last name. So Alpharetta LC has two partners whose last names are Lack and Chaudhary.

ANT PRIDE :)

Scoreboards during Tournaments

Just a reminder that we have continuous scoreboards up during all tournaments. With information provided from the Twitter feed, we can constantly update parents, family, and friends on how different teams are doing.

Laptops Needed! — even broken ones

Parents and Raider Debaters are now aware that JV and Varsity teams will be required to bring with them three laptops to their tournaments in lieu of the multiple tubs and carts we brought in past years. While most if not all debaters already have laptops of their own, it is the extra laptop that is most needed. This laptop is the “viewing laptop” and is required for each two person team. It enables our team to provide a vehicle by which their opponents can follow along with the evidence our team is presenting. While we have a few being donated, we need many more.

If you have an old laptop, a broken laptop, a chipped laptop, dropped laptop, nearly destroyed laptop, etc… sitting in a closet not being used… we might be able to salvage it. (MORE BELOW THE FOLD)  Read more of this post
